I am so excited to announce something big over here!

I have recently become an independent consultant for Poofy Organics. As many of you know, I am always striving to lead a healthier lifestyle both for myself and for my family. We try to eat healthy and while that is very important, I also have been feeling that what we put on our bodies (ie. deodorants, soap, etc) is also just as important as what we ingest.

If you have not heard of Poofy Organics, please feel free to head on over to their website now and peruse their products. All of the products are USDA Organic certified with the seal to prove it.

If you have any questions about the products or would like to host a party (you can get some pretty cool incentives!) please feel free to contact me.

Summer Favorites

I thought it would be fun to compile a few favorites of mine. Some bloggers do this on a monthly basis, but I’m not sure I will do it monthly. I was thinking seasonally. Or maybe I’ll get more requests and make it a monthly thing. We’ll see. I had contemplated doing my very first video to show you my favorites but I haven’t crossed over into the vimeo/vlog world quite yet. Maybe for the next one. 🙂

1. I don’t know if it’s the hard water here in Japan, having two kids in 2 years, or what… it’s probably a combination of both… but my hair has a lot of split ends, especially around my face. It’s annoying as all get out, and when my mom heard me talk about it, she sent two large bottles of the Pravana Intense Therapy leave-in treatment. (thanks, Mom!) Seriously, I love this stuff. It conditions, strengths, and smells amazing, too!

2. I purchased this last week at the beauty salon in the Ginger Lily scent. Please. Go and buy it. It smells so good AND keeps your hands moisturized.

3 & 4: These can come in a set or you can purchase them separately. I suggest just going ahead and getting them both. I love them for different reasons. The day solution has sunscreen in it which is awesome because I’m outside everyday. The night solution has these awesome microcapsules that when you pump, it spreads into the solution and dissolves right into your skin. Not to mention it helps with wrinkles!

5: I had been looking for a dry shampoo and finally found this brand. It adds just the right amount of texture to help tease my hair and add volume.

6: I have these in two shades: Bamboo pink and Stellar Plum. I actually like the plum shade better, but both are awesome and last a long time on your lips. Oh, and I’m not a lipstick person at all so these are great for those of you who don’t like the lipstick smell or feel.

7: I bought this soap about two weeks ago and I need to go out and get more soon! I am sometimes tempted to go wash my hands just for the fun of it so I can smell this soap! 🙂

Alright, that’s all I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed this first beauty favorites post. Leave a comment below if you want to see more of the same!

The Picture of Deployment

I’m standing at the curb, holding a squirming one-year-old with one arm while trying to push the uncooperative stroller seating my two-year-old up onto the sidewalk with the other. I’m sweating profusely and silently cursing the stroller, hot sun beating down on me, and my daughter’s decision that she didn’t want to walk anymore and now needed to ride in the stroller which meant carrying my youngest daughter. {Even though she was the one who, while walking out of our apartment, informed me that she wanted to walk to the store and persuaded me to take the single stroller for only Scarlett to ride in.}

My friend happened to come upon me after multiple attempts to coax the stroller up onto the sidewalk and said in one simple declaration: “That is the picture of deployment right there.”

I couldn’t agree more. A frustrated and tired mom, having carried her child for over a half mile {unnecessarily, mind you}, who just wants to make it back home to make dinner for the girls, give them baths, put them down for bed, and have a couple hours to herself before getting broken sleep and starting it all over again tomorrow. Only to be repeated for months.

Being a “single” mom and a military spouse is not glamorous. It’s hard work. Day in and day out. Oh, how thankful I am that this is our last deployment this sea tour before we move back to the States and get a much needed break. I’m counting down the days.

There was a glimpse today of peace and quiet, one tiny redeeming part of my day. I went to the salon to get my hair cut and colored. It was a glorious two hours all to myself. I kind of felt bad that I wasn’t my chatty self with the stylist but I was basking in the fact that I didn’t need to reply yes, honey or stop doing that a thousand times. It was wonderful.

Some days, we look for any little break we can get. Hopefully this deployment will go quickly.
